Leaders - Focus on Christ for the People's Sake. #3

Life can smack us down! Tragedies in our journey hit us in the gut like a wrecking ball! All reason can leave our senses and we scream out to a God we no longer want to believe in, allowing at that moment for anger to take its place in our lives. We must reign in those strong emotions, or everyone we come across will feel something of the wrath that lays dormant within us. The human heart can be a dangerous place for the most passive among us!
In difficult moments, and we all have them, we can become a bitter or a better person. What we decide in those tempestuous times will mould who we become. Others may well cop the unpleasantness that can reveal itself in an unguarded moment.
The duo ‘for King and Country’ has some astounding lyrics to their songs. One song Fight On Fighter forcefully pushes the struggling listener to “Fight on, fighter, don’t let anyone steal your fire. Fight on, fighter, The Spirit is alive inside ya.” This can speak to leaders who are up against the ropes, feeling they are taking punches as they try to hold onto God where others would let go. Timothy was a young leader in the Bible who needed this advice as Paul pushed him, “…fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.” ( 1Tim 1.19 NIV) Back to the song, its bridge announces to the listener, “Stronger than you ever thought, I know you’re stronger. Braver than you were before, you know you’re braver. Oh no, you don’t have to be afraid. Together we’ll face it. Don’t ever stop no matter what, ‘cause you’re gonna make it.” Leader when you struggle, push on. Teach to bring hope, preach to give confidence, and speak to share love. Looking to Jesus as Life Lasts from there.
